Iraq signs contract with Italian company to develop national railways.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced the signing of a consultancy contract with the Italian company BTP for the first phase of the Development Road Project, which focuses on studying the feasibility and modernizing the national railway network. The project, funded by the 2024 investment plan, aims to enhance the safe transportation of goods via railway lines from the Grand Faw Port, which is set to start operating next year. The completion rates are also increasing on the port components, the submerged tunnel, and the road linking the ports of Faw and Umm Qasr.
